- Paying between $45.92-52.23ph + super

About the Role
Our client is a well-known local government organisation based in Colac. They are currently seeking a Payroll Services Officer to come in and join their team on a temp contract basis until 22nd May with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Relevant experience working in a payroll environment and well developed understanding of payroll practices
- Experience in local government (Not essential but highly desirable)
- Experience in award and workplace agreements interpretation and application
Key responsibilities will include:
- Full-Cycle Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end fortnightly payroll, ensuring all timesheets and claims comply with the Enterprise Agreement.
- Statutory Compliance: Reconcile and dispatch deductions to the ATO, superannuation funds, and insurers in line with legislative deadlines.
- Financial Integrity: Perform regular General Ledger (GL) reconciliations for all payroll accounts, allowances, and suspense items to ensure financial accuracy.
- Complex Adjustments: Execute technical calculations for terminations, redundancies, backpays, and salary adjustments while maintaining the Payroll Master Records.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly executive and quarterly Council reports, providing labor costing analysis and accident compensation data for management.
- Entitlements Management: Oversee the administration of leave registers, including Long Service Leave transfers and end-of-financial-year reporting.
- System & Audit Support: Maintain the organizational hierarchy within the Authority system and act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
About You
You will be an experienced payroll professional with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Relevant experience working in a payroll environment and well developed understanding of payroll practices
- Experience in local government (Not essential but highly desirable)
- Experience in award and workplace agreements interpretation and application
- Analytical and problem solving skills
